KARACHI: KTI demands compensation

KARACHI, April 28: The leaders of Karachi Transport Ittehad (KTI) on Saturday condemned the murder of a transporter at the hands of police at Saeedabad Motor Vehicles Fitness Centre and asked for registration of case against the DSP and sub-inspector concerned.

The KTI in a general body meeting has demanded a payment of Rs500,000 as compensation to heirs of the murdered transporter, the nomination of the DSP Chaudhry Nazir and Sub-Inspector Hamidullah in the FIR.

They said if the demands which include the arrest of a police constable Nasir, reportedly involved in the murder, were not accepted then the transporters would observe a strike on May 4.
