KARACHI: 19 Afghans sent to jail

KARACHI, April 28: The court of Additional District and Session Judge West Gulshan Ara Chandio on Saturday sentenced 19 Afghan nationals to one-year rigorous imprisonment for illegally entering into Pakistani borders and staying at various localities of the metropolis.

It was reported that the Afghanis were arrested from different areas of Karachi by CIA Police on April 6, 2006 who were handed over to the Federal Investigation Agency, Passport Cell.

A case against them was registered under section 3(2B) 13/14 of FIA Act. The court ordered the officials concerned of Sindh government to deport the Afghanis after completion of the one-year imprisonment.

All the accused Meraj, son of Abadul Haye; Nasir, son of Mohammadullah; Rehmat Sahdh, son of Haji Rahim; Syed Mohammad, son of Abdul Hamid; Khan Mohammad, son of Din Mohammad; Allah Mohammad, son of Abdul Haleem; Abdul Hafeez, son of Mohammad Ayub; Ashraf, son of Abdul Khaliq; Ghulam Mohammad, son of Jalal Mohammad; Jamaluddin, son of Sahib Jan; Nek Mohammad, son of Sahib Jan; and Salamat, son of Ibrahim, have admitted that their stay in Pakistan was in violation of the rules and without lawful authority.
