Korangi Al Fateh reach quarters

KARACHI, April 27: Korangi Al Fateh Cricket Club advanced to the PCB National Club Championship (Karachi Region) quarter-finals after recording a two-wicket win over Korangi Friends Cricket Club here on Thursday at the Landhi Gymkhana Ground.

Mubashir Ahmed (67) struck seven boundaries as the winners recorded their victory by achieving the 257-run target with only two balls to spare. Rizwan Saeed (48), Omair Ahmed (36) and M Shakeel (35) were the other notable scorers.

Earlier, aided by Ashraf Ali (116), Korangi Friends posted 256-5 in the stipulated 50 overs. Ashraf smashed nine boundaries in his knock which was later proved useless in the end.

In other match at the Student Ground, Babar Rehman hit 87 studded with 13 fours and two sixes to help Tapal Cricket Club record a 75-run win against Hamdam Cricket Club.

Meanwhile, at the KCCA Stadium, Asifabad Sports registered their third win of the league stage when they defeated Malir Gymkhana by 39 runs in group D.

A match-winning 105 from Nadeem Babar for the winners and a scintillating 102 from Malir Gymkhana’s M Shahzaib were the highlights of the match.
