Three teams reach semi-finals


KARACHI, April 26: Nazimabad Gymkhana, Pakistan Cricket Club and Khizra Sports qualified for the Karachi Region PCB National Inter Club Championship semi-finals after registering victories in their respective matches here on Wednesday.

Farhan Iqbal cracked nine fours in his 104 and Faraz Patel scored exactly 100 with six boundaries as Nazimabad Gymkhana defeated Al-Noor Gymkhana by 132 runs at the PCB Academy Ground.

Meanwhile, Pakistan Cricket Club blanked Rafiq Sherazi Memorial Cricket Club by ten wickets at the KCCA Stadium, thanks to brilliant batting from Daniyal Ahsan and Asad Shafiq.

Daniyal hammered 11 boundaries and three sixes in his unbeaten 85 and Asad (54 not out) hit seven fours and a six. Left-arm spinner Faraz Ahmed took 4-30 while Irfanuddin and Misbah Khan claimed two wickets apiece to help dismiss Rafiq Sherazi CC for 166.

In the meantime, Haris Ayaz and Mansoor Khan spearheaded Khizra Sports’ six-wicket win against Dawood Sports at the UBL Sports Complex Ground. Haris captured 4-44 to help bowl Dawood Sports out for 167 in the 49th over. Khizra Sports, in response, reached their target in 32 overs. Mansoor made a match-winning 59.

Also on Wednesday, Asad Iqbal made an unbeaten 101 with seven fours and a six as Asifabad Sports defeated Rangers Gymkhana by 122 runs at their own ground.

At the TMC Ground, Cantt Sports crushed Malir Cantonment Gymkhana by 300 runs. Naeem Ahmed’s 131, laced with 14 boundaries and two sixes, M Javed (82) and Jaffer Qureshi (61) enabled Cantt Sports to amass the tournament’s highest total (409-9 in 50 overs).

Malir Cantonment Gymkhana, in reply, were bundled out for 109 in the 32nd over. Khalid Rashid recorded figures of 3-38 while Jaffer Qureshi and Babar Qureshi grabbed two wickets each.
