‘MQM not bothered by govt-PPP contacts’

By Our Correspondent

OKARA, April 26: “The MQM is not concerned at the reported talks between the People’s Party and the government as the party would not make alliance with any party, including the ruling PML.”

MNA Pervaiz Qureshi stated this at a press conference held at the residence of city nazim Afzal Paiji on Thursday. MQM representative Fayyaz Ghori and others were also present.

Mr Qureshi said the MQM was free to adopt any course of action. It has decided to take out a rally in Lahore, like in Karachi, against the baton wielding (Danda Bardar) and Kalashnikov Shariat to be enforced in the country.

Replying to a question, he said Lal Masjid and Jamia Hafsa were representing the Kalashnikov brand Shariat in the country and if Chaudhry Shujaat Husains’ dialogues with them failed, the MQM would take some big political decision.

He said the party has launched a mass contact drive in the province.

CASE REGISTERED: Deepalpur city police have registered a case against four lawyers who had a quarrel with a police investigator during proceedings on the orders of additional session judge.

The case was registered against Rana Asghar Ali Shaheen, Tanvir Akbar, Haider Ali and Rana Qasim Ali.
