New vegetable market plots for Rs700,000 each

MULTAN, April 24: Commission agents of the New Vegetable Market and the district government have agreed to fix the price of each market plot at Rs700,000 instead of Rs1 million.

Anjuman-i-Arhtian and district administration representatives decided this at a meeting held on Tuesday presided over by District Nazim Faisal Mukhtar.

Mr Mukhtar said the district government would charge the same price from the agents as was being charged in Gujranwala and Faisalabad. Vegetable markets are being built in these cities with the help of the Asian Development Bank.

He asked agents to give him written statements of their willingness to the price and pay their remaining dues. He said when agents met those conditions he would send the case of the market to the chief minister for approval.

District Coordination Officer Iftikhar Babar said the district government had distributed 164 plots to agents and only 14 had deposited two instalments, 112 only one instalment while 13 commission agents had not deposited even a single instalment.

He said the Market Committee had left with 37 plots that would be auctioned. — Correspondent
