KARACHI: Probe into Urdu varsity affairs urged

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, April 23: The Teaching Association of Abdul Haq Campus, Federal Urdu University, during its general meeting on Monday expressed concern about the deplorable condition of the campus. The meeting also called upon President Pervez Musharraf, the chancellor of the university, to probe into the university affairs.

The meeting was presided over by Salaman D. Mohammad, President of the association. Prof Nasir Khan, Tauseef Ahmed Khan, Abdul Malik, Saeed Qadri, Mohammad Irfan, Shafi Azad, Nasir Abbas, Mohammad Sadiq Baloch, Ghulam Rasool Lakhan, Dr Ghafoor Baloch and Najam-ud-Din spoke on the occasion.

The meeting noted that promotion to the teachers had been awarded by the senate and no individual had right to roll it back.

The meeting also proposed one-teacher-one-vote method for the nominations to the senate and the academic council. The ad hoc administration of the university had deprived the teachers of their rights to elect, thus keeping the Abdul Haq Campus undeveloped and dispossessed, it said.
