SIALKOT, April 22: The district government has detected dozens of male and female absentee teachers getting regular salaries with the connivance of some education department officials.

Official sources said the district authorities had compiled data on these teachers, some of whom had even gone abroad. Action would soon be initiated against them, and they were likely to lose their jobs, they added.

Senior educationists are of the view that the provincial as well as district authorities had failed to check the malpractice in local schools and education offices which was resulting in wastage of public money and the students’ time.
