LPC win polo series

LAHORE, April 21: A last-gasp goal by Naveed M Sheikh helped Lahore Polo Club (LPC) win the last of the three-match series against Jaipur Polo Club (JPC) by 7-6 and take the series 2-1 on Saturday.

Three-goal Taimur Ali Malik and two-goal Usman Haye gave LPC a perfect start, handing them 3-0 lead. Taimur scored back-to-back, first converting a 30-yard penalty hit and second on a field attempt after getting an angular cross pass from Usman.

The second chukker saw, JPC replied strongly through a well combination of Rakshit Agnihotri and Abhimanyu Pathak, taking 4-3 lead.

JPC managed to hold the slim lead 6-5 at the end of the third chukker. The final chukker proved a total domination of the LPC as Taimur banged home his third goal to equal the score 6-6, before Naveed produced the match-winner to seal the fate of the match.
