BADIN, April 21: Sindh Chief Minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim on Saturday announced that contract system for fishing in the province and its territorial waters had been abolished.
He was addressing a large public meeting at zero-point near Ghoonghro, about 60 kilometres from here.
Reiterating the government’s commitment to provide better opportunities to fishermen, the chief minister said that replacement of the contract system with licensed fishing would provide better opportunities to fishermen. He said that large-scale development programmes had been initiated and Rs2 billion were being spent on several such schemes in the coastal area.
