PESHAWAR, April 21: The Peshawar Electric Supply Company (Pesco) has asked various tehsil municipal administrations (TMAs) to pay their outstanding dues amounting to Rs227 million by April 25 to avoid disconnection of power supply.
In a statement issued on Saturday, a Pesco spokesman had contradicted the statement of Peshawar District Nazim Haji Ghulam Ali, published in a section of press, regarding prolonged outages in the provincial capital and termed it incorrect.
He said that Pesco had not carried out load management in Peshawar and the incidence of power outages in some areas of the NWFP was due to the non-clearance of outstanding arrears against TMAs.
The spokesman said that the company had Rs227 million outstanding against various TMAs across the province, for which notices had already been issued to all the departments concerned to clear their outstanding arrears before April 18.
Pesco was compelled to launch the disconnection drive on April 19, however, keeping in view the inconvenience of the public, power was restored on the commitment for payment up to April 25, the spokesman said.
