SWABI, April 18: The nazim, naib nazim and members of the Yar Hussain West union council have resigned in protest against persistent loadshedding in the area. Nazim Chaudhry Anwar Zeb, Naib Nazim Malik Mohammad Salim and the councillors handed over their resignations to the convener of the district council, Mohammad Salim, on Wednesday.

They said despite “sacrifices” for the Tarbela Dam and the Ghazi Barotha Power Project, the people of the district faced prolonged power outages.

Meanwhile, leaders of the Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaf and other political parties on Wednesday announced to hold a joint protest demonstration if the Peshawar Electricity Supply Company did not stop loadshedding.
