ISLAMABAD, April 17: The agenda for the 34th session of the Islamic Conference of Foreign Ministers (ICFM) being hosted by Pakistan next month has been finalised.

The ICFM sitting is scheduled for May 15-17 in Islamabad.

The agenda was firmed up at a meeting of senior officials of the member states of the 57-nation Organisation of Islamic Conference (OIC) held in Jeddah on April 14-16.

The meeting, chaired by Pakistan’s Additional Foreign Secretary Tariq Osman Hyder, was convened to prepare documents for the upcoming session of the ICFM.

“The senior officials meeting finalised the agenda for the 34th ICFM as well as the drafts resolutions presented by member states on political, humanitarian and legal issues,” a statement issued by the Foreign Office said on Tuesday.

During the 34th session of the ICFM, a special thematic sitting will also be organised on the subject of Islamophobia, it said.

According to the statement at the Jeddah meeting, Pakistan delegation gave a briefing on the status of preparations for the 34th ICFM.

“The participating delegations looked forward to visiting brotherly Pakistan for the forthcoming ICFM and expressed full confidence in Pakistan’s leadership of the Islamic Conference over the course of 2007-2008,” it noted.

The ICFM is a regular annual session to review the work of the OIC and its subsidiary and affiliated institutions.
