KARACHI: JAC rally against extremism

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, April 17: The Joint Action Committee (JAC) for Peoples Rights Karachi – a network of more than 30 civil society organisations – will stage a demonstration on Thursday at the main entrance of the Quaid’s mausoleum against religious extremism and stick-wielding Sharia, said a statement.

“Pakistan is being hijacked by religious extremists today and parts of our country are in a state of anarchy,” said the statement.

It said in the name of Islam, extremists were beheading people, attacking NGOs’ offices, kidnapping women, closing down girls schools, intimidating women in properties, encroaching upon public property and, thus, creating an environment of insecurity.
