KARACHI, April 17: Residents of various localities in the metropolis on Tuesday complained of short supply of water to their areas.
Owing to the increasing demand of water, private tanker owners have reportedly increased single trip charges during the last two weeks.
Residents of Kharadar Old Area said they were facing acute water shortage for the last many days. They said complaints were lodged repeatedly with the officials of the Karachi Water and Sewerage Board at Jaffar Fudoo Water Pumping Station, but to no avail.
Complaints of water shortage was received from PECHS Society, Hill Area, Akhtar Colony, Bhittai Colony, Chanesar Goth, Mehmood Shah Bukhari Road, Swat Charbagh Colony, Pahar Ganj, North Nazimabad Block J, P, Q, R, Rehmania Mohalla, Farooqui Mohalla of Frontier Colony, Lyari, Baghdadi, D.D. Chaudhry Road, Khadda, Nawabad, Daryabad, North Karachi Water Pump Area, Korangi Bilal Colony, Orangi Town Sector Islam Nagar.
Most of the complainants criticised the indifferent attitude and poor performance of the KWSB.
According to residents of Keamari, Mauripur Grex, Hawkesbay, Shams Pir, Baba Bit, Salihabad, Younusabad, and Mubarak Village,
Despite several meetings with the KWSB officials and their assurances, water crisis is still tormenting the area people.
A KWSB spokesman, when contacted, blamed power cuts for the poor water supply to the city areas.
He said that water was supplied to the localities on different days and due to frequent power breakdowns, the routine operations got affected.
