LAHORE, April 16: Fast bowlers Shoaib Akhtar and Mohammad Asif will appear before the World Cup Performance Evaluation Committee (PEC) when it resumes its hearing on Wednesday after a three-day break.

The chairman PEC, Ijaz Butt told Dawn that middle-order batsman Mohammad Yousuf had already confirmed his presence before the committee on Wednesday while Shoaib and Asif would also be appearing on the day.

Ijaz reiterated that he did not receive any written reply from former PCB chairman Shaharyar M Khan, explaining his views over the bad performance of Pakistan in the 2007 World Cup.

Ijaz said though he had asked PCB chairman Dr Nasim Ashraf to advise Shaharyar to personally appear before the committee, he did not receive any intimation from him.

The PEC chairman said he had already sent questions in writing to Shaharyar but there was no response from the ex-diplomat.

Earlier, on Saturday, Shahayar Khan had claimed that he had sent his views to the committee through a letter.
