PESHAWAR, April 16: Speakers at a workshop here on Monday stressed the need for producing skilled labour according to the market requirement to improve efficiency and ensure cost-effectiveness.

Speaking at the workshop held by the Restructuring of Technical Education and Vocational Training System Project, Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry senior vice-president Haji Mohammad Israr said that technical institutes did not cater to the requirements of the industry. “The industry is equipped with latest machinery, whereas the technical institutes still have outdated syllabus,” he said, according to a press release.

He said the local industry heavily depended on skilled labour from other provinces, which increased the manufacturing cost.
