KARACHI, April 16: The 116th birth anniversary of the great Dalit hero of the subcontinent, Dr Baba Saheb B. R. Ambedkar , was celebrated last night under the aegis of Scheduled Castes Federation of Pakistan (SCFP) and South Asian Dalit Solidarity Network (SADSN) in Karachi at Luxmi Narain Temple under the KPT Bridge.

Former Dalit MNA Dr Khatumal Jeewan and SCFP's founder-president Surendar Valasai highlighted the struggle and achievements of Dr Ambedkar for the rights of the untouchables or the scheduled castes. Hundreds of Dalits from all over the city attended the programme.

It was demanded that the Scheduled Castes of Pakistan should be allocated seats in the Senate, assemblies, local bodies as per their population.—PPI
