Double Shah sent on police remand

By Our Correspondent

GUJRANWALA, April 14: An Anti-Terrorism Court on Saturday granted a seven-day police remand of Syed Sibtul Hassan Shah, aka Double Shah, and his 16 accomplices. The accused have been held under sections 420, 409 and 406 of the Pakistan Penal Code, and 365-A of the Anti-Terrorism Act.

Defence counsel opposed Sibtul Hassan’s remand, saying that police had not provided them with a copy of the First Information Report (FIR) and that police had seized Rs50 million to Rs60 million from Shah’s house but showed only Rs17 million in the FIR.

Police said the amount recovered during the raid was Rs17 million, and not Rs170million, as reported in Dawn on Saturday.

Judge Tariq Iftikhar asked police to provide the FIR to the defence counsel.
