Court awards death to girl’s killer

By Our Staff Correspondent

QUETTA, April 14: The Anti-Terrorism Court, Quetta, on Saturday awarded death sentence on two counts to a convict of kidnapping, raping and killing an eight-year-old girl, Shagufta Paracha.

The court, headed by judge Najibullah Khan, also imposed a fine of Rs150,000 on the convict, Ghulam Murtaza.

In case of default, the convict would spend another two years in jail.

The accused was present in the court when the judgment was announced.

Ghulam Murtaza, who was an employee of Shagufta’s uncle, had kidnapped the girl last year, and after committing rape he killed her and left the body in the bushes near the Railway Guards Colony.

Police later arrested the accused and recovered the mutilated body from the bushes.
