ISLAMABAD, April 13: The National Database Registration Authority (Nadra) has so far issued more than 56 million Computerized National Identity Cards since its establishment in 2000.
Nadra Chairman Saleem Moeen said Friday that Nadra has maintained a comprehensive and large database of 85 million citizens. He said the authority has issued 35,521,617 CNICs (83.01 per cent) to males and 20,959,530 CNICs (52.1 per cent) to females across the country. Giving a province wise break up he said, in Punjab 19,207,775 CNICs were issued to males and 12,103,494 to females while the total population of the province is 43,704,636. In Sindh, 7,750,212 CNICs were issued to male and 4,539,709 to females while the total population is 18,340,897. In Balochistan, 1,264,160 male and 62,3241 female got CNICs while the total population of the province is 3,607,329. In the Federally Administrated Tribal Areas, 712,551 male and 153,654 female got CNICs out of a total population of 1,660,601.
In Azad Kashmir, 947,349 males and 685,757 females got CNICs out of a total population of 1,768476.—APP
