LAHORE, April 11: Four-year-old bay filly Julia Robert cruised to about two-length victory over Run And Win to claim the feature event, contested over 1100 metres, during the Lahore Gymkhana midweek races at the Racecourse on Wednesday.
Owned by former international hockey star, Munir Dar, the filly was piloted by Anjum, who used run away tactics that paid him well.
Cobbler and Mama Mia completed the board among six runners which were left in the field after last-minute withdrawals of Chan Badshah and Viana Coup. This was the fifth and last race of the card.
A race earlier, fancied bay gelding Speed Demon displayed a vast improvement to win the supporting event. He beat Sher-e-Lahore by a big margin of nine runs. Jewna and Rana Choice finished third and fourth respectively.
The victory of Speed Demon gave owner Masood Pervaiz, trainer I. Nawab and riding boy M. Wasim Khan a good double each. They had also won the second race through bay colt Striker, an odds-on favourite.
Two favourites — Striker, Speed Demon — and a joint favourite, Julia Robert, won in a card of five events.
Stride To Moment and Remember You, who won the first and third event, were available at long odds.
