KARACHI, April 11: Army’s Sadaf Siddique came out with yet another shining performance when she completed a sprint double by claiming 200m women final in the 30th National Games track and field events at the PSB Coaching Centre on Wednesday.
Sadaf who became the ‘fastest woman’ of the country by sprinting to glory in 100m on Tuesday, added another feather to her cap when she was home in 24.9 seconds.
The silver and bronze in the event went to Wapda’s Javeria Hassan and Nadia Nazir. In fact, the three finished in same order in 100m as well.
Earlier in the day, Sajida Ramzan of Wapda who is the reigning national champion in 5000m lived up to her top billing when she land 10000m long distance race in a time of 48:53.6. Shakila of Railways took the silver while the bronze went to Sadia Parveen of Wapda.
Beenish Ameen caught the eye when she leaped to 10.76 metres to win gold first athletics gold for HEC. Rozina Shafqat (Army) and Ghazala Sardar (Wapda) grabbed the silver and bronze.
The soldiers maintained their domination in men’s securing six of the seven gold that were decided on the second day. Wapda earned the remaining one gold.
In women’s Wapda clinched three of the six golds that were at stake. Army and HEC picked up two and one.
Army is enjoying overall lead on the medals table in men and women with a combined tally of 15-8-9. They are followed by Wapda with 7-11-10.
