SHIKARPUR, April 11: Hesco has launched a campaign against kunda connections in Shikarpur district. Executive Engineer Nazeer Ahmed Kalhoro said during a press conference on Wednesday that an inspection team had been constituted to remove kunda connections which began its work in rural and urban areas of the district.

He said about 1,500 cases of illegal connections were detected during a 10-day campaign.

The wires removed from kunda were destroyed in the presence of journalists.

POLICEMEN PUNISHED: The DPO Shikarpur, Zulfiqar Larik took action against some 30 policemen for negligence and absence from the duty on Wednesday.

The five police constables, Habibullah Kalwar, Ahmed Ali Raza Soomro, Ashiq Ali Manganhar, Sikandar Ali and Akhtar Ali Shah were dismissed from the services for negligence in their duties, while Constable Sohail Ahmed Mangi was forcibly retired.

Besides, five policemen Abdul Waheed, Aslam Shah, Imamuddin Sanjrani and Ali Sher were awarded punishment of quarter guard at night and extra drill and extra duties in the morning for 15 days.

Twenty other policemen were suspended and their annual increments were withheld.
