Missing persons: hearing adjourned

ISLAMABAD, April 10: A Supreme Court bench on Tuesday adjourned the identical petitions’ hearing against enforced disappearances till April 20 when Deputy Attorney-General Raja Irshad sought time to file a statement on whereabouts of the missing persons.

Mr Irshad informed the bench comprising Justice Abdul Hameed Dogar and Justice Shakirullah Jan that the Interior Ministry was not cooperating with him in the missing persons case.

The DAG informed the court that the National Crisis Management Cell of the Interior Ministry had written a detailed letter and sought a week’s time to submit a concise statement.

The petitions had been filed by the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP) and the Defence and Human Rights Committee.—Reporter
