KARACHI, April 10: Formidable Sindh set a title clash with Army in the ladies team event of the 30th National Games tennis competition at the CDGK Sports Complex on Tuesday.

Second seed and the hosts Sindh subdued Wapda 2-1 while top seed Army disposed off NWFP 2-0 in the two pre-finals.

Top seed Wapda, second seed Punjab along with Army and PAF cruised into men team event semi-finals.

Wapda edged out Sindh 2-0 to meet second seed Punjab who in the other quarter-final got the better of NWFP by the identical 2-0 score line.

Army dropped a set before overcoming Police 2-1 to face PAF who got a walkover against Navy.

SOCCER: Pakistan Army and Wapda fought their way in the games football semi-finals at People’s Stadium.

The soldiers get past NWFP by five goals to nil while Wapda inflicted 2-0 defeat on Punjab.

KABADDI: Army, Wapda and Navy earned victories in the games kabaddi event on Tuesday. Army beat Sindh 48-12, Wapda rout PAF 16-8 while Navy posted 70-7 victory over Police.

VOLLEYBALL: Pakistan Army defeated NWFP 3-0 to register second successive victory in the games volleyball tournament at KPT Sports Gymnasium. The soldiers had outplayed Sindh 3-0 in the opener the other day.

PAF who beat Wapda 3-2 on Monday continued their winning run by getting the better of Sindh 3-0.

In the third match of the day, Police struggled to beat Wapda by three games to two.

SHOOTING: The marksmen of Navy are dominating the games shooting event at the PN Shooting Range.

They have so far picked up seven golds, eight silvers and a bronze to lead the table with 394 points. They are closely followed by Army (358), Wapda (91), PAF (72), Sindh (51) and Punjab (18).

Army bt NWFP 2-0 (Sarah Mahboob bt Zoya Khan 6-0, 6-1; Sara Mansoor bt Naz Samad 6-1, 6-0).

Men team event (quarter-finals):

Wapda bt Sindh 2-0 (Nomi Qamar bt Nasir Mushtaq 7-6(5), 6-3; M. Khaliq bt Shabbir Gul 6-1, 6-0).

Army bt Police 2-1 (Yasir Khan bt Shahid Khan 6-1 – retired; Saeedul Haq lost to Jahangir Khan 6-7 (2), 3-6; Rashid Malik/Yasir Khan bt Shahid Khan/Jahangir Khan 7-5, 6-7(8), 6-3.)

Punjab bt NWFP 2-0 (Munir Ashiq bt Ayaz Khan 6-2, 6-4; Shahzaib Khan bt Fahim Khan 6-0, 6-1.

PAF w/o Navy.
