KARACHI, April 10: There is no hurdle in laying the gas pipeline between Iran and Pakistan and work on the project will start soon.

This was stated by Dr Jawad Aryan Manish, leader of the Iranian parliamentary delegation, at a “meet the press” programme of the Karachi Press Club on Tuesday night.

Mehmoud Hussaini Daulatbadi, another member of the delegation, said that a wall being erected along the border with Pakistan was aimed at checking the cross-border movement of militants and smugglers. “It has been a cause of concern for both Pakistan and Iran.”

He said British sailors were not freed because of any pressure but due to blessings of the month of Rabi-ul-Awwal and after the British government softened its stance on the issue.

Dr Manish said the US and its allies wanted to divide the Muslims into sects but the Iranian people were aware of their designs and would foil them.

Earlier, KPC President Sabihuddin Ghausi recalled the deep impact of Iranian art of construction, culture and literature on Pakistan and close religious links between the two countries and hoped that their visit would further strengthen these ties.
