Road blocked after power shutdown

By Shams Mohmand

GHALANAI, April 10: Activists of the Mohmand Resistance Movement blocked the Peshawar-Bajaur Road for almost four hours to express their anger against suspension of supply of electricity to 25 villages of the Bajaur Agency here on Tuesday.

The protesters gathered on the main road linking the tribal agency with district Charsadda as a result of which traffic between Pir Qala and Yaka Ghund was suspended. Slogans were chanted against the police and in support of the political administration and the Jirga system.

Speaking at a big gathering, Prof Mohammad Ayaz, Nisar Mohmand and Abdul Jalil, leaders of the movement, pointed out that for the last one year supply to the villages had remained suspended.

They said the village people wanted to remain affiliated to the Bajaur Agency but the government had created a lot of political, economical and social problems for them.
