Sindh fold up for modest score

Published April 10, 2007

KARACHI, April 9: The combined NWFP-Balochistan regional outfit took first-day’s honours after bowling out Sindh for a modest first-innings total in the Pentangular Cup match at the National Stadium here on Monday.

Pacemen Nasir Jalil (4-60), Shakeel-ur-Rehman (3-64) and Faisal Irfan (3-25) combined to bowl out Sindh for 234 after NWFP-Balochistan skipper Arshad Khan won the toss on a lively track.

In fact, Sindh were in dire straits at 73 for six. But Rizwan Ahmed (58 off 92 balls, eight fours), Tahir Khan (an unbeaten 70 off 106 balls, four fours and three sixes) and Mohammad Sami added some sort of respectability to the total.

By close of play, NWFP-Balochistan had reached 84 for one with Pakistan reject Yasir Hameed batting on 48.
