Jamia Hafsa constructed illegally: minister

ISLAMABAD, April 9: Federal Education Minister Javed Ashraf Qazi has said that Jamia Hafsa has been constructed illegally on the land of the education ministry and the Capital Development Authority (CDA) had been asked to get the plot vacated but no action was taken.

Talking to media persons here on Monday during a ceremony at the National University of Modern Languages, the minister said the occupation of the Children’s Library and the plot of Jamia Hafsa was illegal.

He said the education ministry had informed the Islamabad administration and the CDA in writing that the land on which Jamia Hafsa had been constructed was owned by the National Book Foundation. He said Jamia Hafsa was not registered, while under the new education reforms seminaries were bound to be registered.—Online
