LAHORE, April 9: Four robbers allegedly shot dead security guard of a soft drink company and took away Rs1.7 million in Green Town area in early hours of Monday. Police said four gun-totting people came to the main gate of the Coca Cola Factory situated at Kot Lakhpat industrial estate at around 1am and tried to enter the premises.
When security guard Rasheed Ahmed put up resistance, the intruders opened fire, killing him on the spot.
The gangsters then entered the building, held the employees hostage at gunpoint and demanded cash from cashier Wajid Ali.
They collected Rs1.7 million and managed their escape. The police reached the spot and shifted the body for autopsy.
Two armed people forced their entry into a shop owned by Atif Ali in Ghalib Market area and collected Rs8,000 at gunpoint.
When Atif’s employee Basharat offered resistance, the robbers shot at and injured him and fled with looted money.
Two dacoits, riding a bike, stopped a motorist, Maj (retired) Syed Khalid Husain, at Sham Ki Bhattian in Manga Mandi area and snatched Rs300,400 at gunpoint.
Three robbers burst into a cigarette shop at H-Block in Defence, held the owner at gunpoint and took away Rs50,000 and three cell phones.
Two motorcyclists came to passer-by Naveed Butt and his mother in front of Government College for Girls in Gulberg and deprived them of jewellery worth thousands of rupees.
Muhammad Imran was robbed of Rs70,000 by four motorcyclists near Masjid Wazir Khan in Akbari Gate.
Three female robbers stopped Mrs Aalam near Jain Mandar in Old Anarkali area and snatched her purse and a cell phone at gunpoint. —Staff Reporter
