UE students sit-in in Okara

Published April 10, 2007

OKARA, April 9: More than three dozen girl students of the University of Education’s local campus, protesting against the “inability” of their professor to lecture them properly on special education subject, staged a sit-in on Monday. Campus director Dr Shafique however rejects their protest as uncalled for.

Students who gathered outside the residence of Defence Minister Rao Sikandar Iqbal, the force behind the establishment of the campus, to stage the sit-in said they had been protesting against the `incompetent’ female professor but the administration was not ready to listen.

They said the professor had no command over the subject of special education.

The director however said the professor was an expert in psychology and was the right choice. He said just three students had prevailed upon the entire MA education class. — Correspondent
