DERA ISMAIL KHAN, April 8: Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA) secretary-general Maulana Fazlur Rehman has said that he will not play the role of a mediator between the government and the leadership of Jamia Hafsa.

Developments such as the Hafsa issue are creating problems for pro-Islam forces and madressahs, he said in an interview to a private TV channel on Sunday.

“Government’s policies are promoting extremism in the country,” he said. The Maulana alleged that the government wanted to create differences among ulema, adding that bomb blasts in Hangu, Tank and Dera Ismail Khan were a conspiracy to topple the MMA-led government in the Frontier province.—Online
