Rehman Baba’s urs concludes

PESHAWAR, April 8: The three-day urs of the renowned Pashto poet Rehman Baba concluded here on Sunday and poets, researchers, singers and qawals paid homage at his mausoleum in Hazarkhwani.

Pashto poets from across the Pashtun-belt presented their poetry at a mushaira, which was divided into four sessions. Researchers, writers and critics from different parts of the country read out their papers on the works and life of Rehman Baba.

Rehman Baba is also known as ‘Hafiz Shirazi’ of Pashto language and a poet of humanity for his mystical, social and humanistic verses.

Composed in 17th century, the poetry of Rehman Baba even today has not lost its significance in the wake of changing social, political and economic conditions. He gave the message of love, peace, tolerance, justice and brotherhood in his poetry.
