KARACHI: Unsolved problems termed gift of past politics

KARACHI, April 8: Sindh Minister for Local Government, kutchi abadis and spatial development Muhammad Hussain Khan has said that the main reason of the problems of Pakhtoons, Punjabis, Sindhis and Bengalis and other communities is that their elected representatives never bothered to visit their constituencies after elections and this menace resulted in manifold increase in the problems.

He was addressing an open kutchehry in Afridi Colony, UC-3 of Orangi Town. He said those elected through Pakhtoons and Punjabis votes did not want to solve the problems of people in their respective areas as they knew if the same were solved their politics of divide and rule would end forever.

The minister said the political parties and religious groups had always supported the two per cent privileged class. These feudal lords and influential people have become so powerful that even these parties and religious groups were at their mercy, he remarked.

He said Pakhtoons had contributed a lot towards the development of Karachi and it was unfortunate that their problems were not solved by the elected representative during the last five decades.

Mr Hussain said some vested elements who were afraid of ever growing popularity of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement were engaged in hatching conspiracies against the party as they alleged that MQM was the party of only Urdu-speaking community but the inclusion of thousands of Pakhtoons, Punjabis, Siraikis, Sindhis and Balochis and other communities in this party had proved this perception wrong.

SITE Town Naib Nazim Syed Badshah and officials were also present on the occasion. A large number of youths announced to join the PPOC on the occasion.

Later, the minister received applications and assured applicants that their problems would be solved gradually.—PPI
