LAYYAHA, March 7: The deputy district education officer has been accused of receiving Rs1,500 from each food stall set up at the local girls college in connection with spring festival. Reports said the four-day spring festival was held at the Government Girls College from April 2 to 5, exclusively for women. In this connection, girls’ educational institutes were invited to set up various food stalls at the festival venue. Total 150 stalls were set up on the festival venue.

A schoolteacher, requesting anonymity, alleged that the DDEO concerned charged Rs1,500 from each stall.

The teacher said the DDEO also charged Rs500 from each girls’ primary school and Rs1,000 from every middle school for Farogh-e-Taleem Fund.

At present, more than 500 girls’ schools are functioning in Layyah tehsil.

When contacted, the DDEO denied all the charges.

EDO education Hafiz Abdul Wahid Aulakh said that he had received no complaint regarding illegal fundraising by the DDEO.
