PTI chief for fuelling agitation

By Our Correspondent

SHEIKHUPURA, April 7: Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan has said that the country is passing through crises as army rulers have weakened all democratic institutions only to prolong their dictatorship. He was addressing the Sheikhupura bar association here on Saturday.

Mr Khan said the ongoing agitation was a golden opportunity and it should be strengthened till the ouster of the rulers.

He said the prevailing price hike and lawlessness had made people’s lives miserable while the president stayed about 18 days in America for the promotion of his book, spending millions of rupees.

He said $70,000 per day were spent on the stay of the prime minister and his team at a hotel in London during his visit to Switzerland and England to invite foreign investors. On the other hand, the poor did not have basic amenities like food, clothing, education, healthcare and clean drinking water.

The PTI chief said: “General Musharraf is an American agent and implementing policies of his lord president Bush.”

He alleged that Shaukat Aziz had done massive corruption in the privatisation of Pakistan Steel Mills which was declared null and void by a Supreme Court bench, led by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry. “Now the prime minister has taken revenge by persuading the president to file a reference against the chief justice,” he said.
