PESHAWAR, April 7: Health experts have stressed the need for a global and holistic approach to address the emerging threats to human health to ensure promotion of a healthy and prosperous society.

The WHO event was arranged on Saturday in collaboration with the provincial health department. Dr Sajid Shaheen, Dr Sabooh Bacha, Dr Abdul Ghafoor, Dr Mohammad Zaheen, Shafiullah Khan and Behramand Safi were among those who were present on the occasion.

Dr Ghafoor said the day reminded the global community of its responsibilities to improve health conditions.

"Working for achieving the complete state of health is not only the domain of the health department, rather it needs collective efforts,” he said.

Dr Zaheen stressed the need for taking effective measures to control hepatitis, cholera and other diseases that threaten developing countries.

He also urged precautionary measures to avoid bird flu.
