RESHAWAR, April 6: The NWFP government has appointed a German lawyer as chief executive of the Lady Reading Hospital (LRH). Talking to journalists on Friday, NWFP Health Minister Inayatullah said the appointment of Johan Krause, a German lawyer having 25 years of experience in hospital management, would help attract foreign resources and donors’ assistance and provide training opportunities to staff of the LRH, besides upgradation of the hospital building.
He denied reports that the government was planning to privatise the teaching hospital.
He said the appointment of international expert did not mean to hand over the hospital to a foreign or national agency. The hospital would remain in government’s ownership as an autonomous body, he added.
The minister said the NWFP government had advertised the post in the international Economist magazine. Around 60 candidates from various countries applied for the post.
Mr Inayatullah said Chief Minister Akram Durrani had approved the appointment.—PPI
