ISLAMABAD, April 6: A fund raising campaign for the support of the earthquake-hit children has been launched in Paris. According to a press release issued here on Friday, the campaign was being run by a Paris-based NGO Karakurum 2007, which was collecting funds to build 15 schools in Azad Kashmir and the Northern Areas.

The NGO has already built two schools in these areas. The inaugural session for the campaign was held at Normandi, a city having great respect in the French Independence movement.

Federal Minister for Tourism Nilofar Bakhtiar, who was chief guest on the occasion, also participated in the para-jumping to express solidarity with the people collecting funds for the support of the earthquake affected children.

Former world champion Mario, although a senior citizen will lead a similar show, planned to be held in Muzaffarabad on August 14. He will also bring a delegation of French celebrities including some showbiz stars and media persons from France and England to participate in the event.

The campaign also includes two climbing expeditions on Gashabrum-III and K-2 to collect maximum funds for the project. The children belonging to the quake-hit areas will also jump in the para-jumping show to be witnessed by the president and prime minister of Azad Kashmir.

The French Paragliding Association also announced full cooperation for strengthening the tourism industry in the quake- hit areas and also for collecting funds for education of local children.
