Quake rocks capital, upcountry

Bureau Report

PESHAWAR, April 3: An earthquake, registering an intensity of 6 on the Richter scale, hit various parts of the NWFP, Northern Areas, tribal areas and Islamabad on Tuesday morning. The tremors were felt as far away as Multan and Hazara regions, officials said. No casualty was reported.

The local Meteorological office said the quake’s epicentre was in Hindukush Range, about 300 kilometres north of Peshawar.

People in Peshawar and other areas panicked and came out of their houses and assembled in open places, anticipating more tremors.
