HYDERABAD, April 2: Eid Miladun Nabi was celebrated with traditional religious zeal and fervour and amid comparatively tightened security across the province on Sunday with no reports of any untoward incident from any part.

Many government, semi-government and private buildings were decorated with colourful lights to mark the day.

In Hyderabad, the faithful brought out processions on Saturday night while on Sunday main procession of Anjuman-i-Fidayan Pakistan started its march from Medina Masjid and terminated at Milad-i-Mustafa Chowk.

The Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) had set up its main reception camp on the Station Road and distributed sweets among participants of all small and big processions.

Dawat-i-Islami (DI) held its main programme at the Pucca Qilla ground on the night of Saturday and Sunday followed by a huge procession.

Darul Uloom Ahsanul Barkat staged a rally, which marched on different roads before joining the main Anjuman-i-Fidayan Rasool and Ahlyan-i-Latifabad processions.

Parts of Phulelli and Paretabad were tastefully decorated by residents on their own but their celebrations were marred by the worst traffic jams on Phulelli Bridge with no policeman in sight.

Addressing the processions at Milad-i-Mustafa Chowk MMA leader Sahibzada Abul Khair Mohammad Zubair said that when the government failed to ensure peace and promoted vulgarity then the baton wielding women would have to take to streets to eliminate obscenity.

He deplored that despite lapse of a whole year people behind Nishtar Park carnage had not been brought to justice although the Ahl-i-Sunnat leadership had pointed it out to Gen Pervez Musharraf that the killers had been sitting on his right and left.

He said that recent incidents in Islamabad should make the rulers feel ashamed because they had failed to control obscenity in the capital with the result that seminary students had to undertake the responsibility. JUP Sindh leader Haji Moinuddin Sheikh, MMA's MPA Abdul Rehman Rajput and Sunni Action Committee's chairman Sufi Raza Mohammad Abbasi spoke on the occasion.

NAWABSHAH: The day started with special prayers in mosques for the prosperity of Muslim Ummah and Pakistan. Various religious organisations staged processions in different parts of the city.

The main procession emerged from Kohat Badshah Gharibabad which ended at Chakra Bazaar after passing through different roads. MQM had set up camps at different places to welcome the participants and distributed sweets.

MIRPURKHAS: Mosques, government buildings, streets and roundabouts were illuminated and rallies were staged on trucks, pickups, vans and cars, which passed through Umerkot Road, M. A. Jinnah Road, Mirwah Road, Railway Station Raod, Gharibabad and Sir Syed Road.
