KARACHI, April 2: A report for effective governance of the proposed Education City would be submitted to Sindh Chief Secretary Shakeel Durrani within two weeks. The report would also cover feasible proposals for ensuring provisions of basic amenities in the city including water supply, sewerage system, development and maintenance of roads.
This offer for preparations of the report was made by Dr Asim Hussain, Chancellor of Ziauddin University, during a meeting of stakeholders of the Education City, held here on Monday to prepare a strategy to expedite the process and attain the objective at the earliest.
The chief secretary, who presided over the meeting, called upon stakeholders to adopt a concordant strategy to ensure development of the city.
He stressed the need for keeping provisions of providing opportunities of higher and qualitative education for deserving poor students in their institutions, as it was the duty of well-to-do sections of society to look after the basic needs of needy and poor sections of society and also extend them provisions of a good life including health and education facilities.
Later, he also presided over a high level meeting, which decided to continue with the old practice of bulk electric supply meters in government officers’ colonies.
This decision superseded the last meeting’s decision of installing power supply meters individually.
