LARKANA, March 31: Chairman of the Sindh National Front, Mumtaz Ali Bhutto, has said the government has no right to stay in power and demanded of the rulers to step down.

Addressing a rally against lawlessness here on Saturday, he criticised the government for its failure to provide basic facilities such as employment to its citizens.

The rulers not only multiplied the problems of people but have utterly failed in containing the law and order situation in the country, he added.

“Corruption is rampant in the government offices, extortion is common everywhere while worst is the condition of law and order which has practically ruined the lives of people,” he stated.

Expressing grave concern over the deteriorating law and order situation in Sindh, and particularly in Larkana he alleged that the Larkana DPO had connections with the bandits.

The DPO never goes into ‘kutcha’ to purge the place from bandits, said Mumtaz Bhutto adding rather he conveys the action plan in advance to them resulting in the dacoits leaving the place quietly and the DPO pretending to have taken a powerful action against the outlaws.

Instead of capturing bandits, police targets poor and innocent villagers, torch their houses, herd away their cattle, loot their property and send them behind bars in what he called ‘false and fictitious cases.’

“We would oppose the police highhandedness and excesses as more water had flown under the bridge, he said and offered the DPO showing the abodes of bandits. He said that people under these ‘uncertain’ conditions should stand up and protect themselves, as we don’t expect peace from rulers who had done nothing but multiplied the miseries of people.”

Amir Bakhsh Bhutto, the vice-chairman of the SNF and others led the rally that emerged from the Zulfikar Bagh. Hundreds of people with a good number of women carrying banners, placards raising anti-police slogans marched on the main roads of the city and assembled at the Pakistan chowk.

They staged a sit-in at the chowk which disrupted the vehicular traffic. People showered flowers on the participants throughout the route.

KARO-KARI: Two persons in ‘Budgo Jalbani’ village near Ratodero were killed under the pretext of Karo-kari on Saturday.

Zamir Jalbani and Gulab Jalbani shot dead their unmarried sister Zahida and cousin Jalauddain Jatoi.

Abdul Salam Jatoi, the brother of Jalauddain Jatoi, lodged an FIR against the killers and police have arrested them.
