Mansoor excels as National Bank lift one-day Patron’s Cup
LAHORE, March 25: A good all-round performance by Mansoor Amjad helped National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) lift the ABN-AMRO One-day Patron's Cup with a nail-biting three-wicket win over Habib Bank at the Gaddafi Stadium on Sunday.
Leg-spinner Mansoor claimed three for 31 as Habib Bank were restricted to 205 in 47.5 overs in the final. He later struck an unbeaten 28 as National Bank reached their target with seven balls to spare.
Mansoor received Rs25,000 after being declared the Man-of-the-Match.
Imran Farhat scooped two individual awards – he was adjudged best batsman of the tournament with 242 runs and the best fielder.
Tahir Mughal won the best bowler award for picking up 11 wickets while his National Bank’s team-mate Amin-ur-Rehman was the tournament’s best wicket-keeper with 17 dismissals (14 catches and three stumpings).
National Bank skipper Naumanullah received the winners’ trophy from PCB chief operating officer Saleem Altaf and a cash prize of Rs300,000. Habib Bank captain Hasan Raza had to settle for the runners-up trophy and Rs150,000.
