ISLAMABAD, March 24: Prices of 11 kitchen items, including edible oil, registered a substantial increase during the week ended on March 23, Statistics Division said on Saturday.

According to sensitive price index data compiled by the Statistics Division, prices of edible oils have been rising steadily despite government’s subsidy of Rs6 per kg on vegetable ghee through the Utility Stores outlets.

The price of a 2.5kg vegetable ghee tin increased by 0.93 per cent to Rs230.12 during the week under review against Rs228 during the previous week.

Mustard oil price hovered at Rs82.87 per kg against Rs82.16 a kg, showing an increase of 0.86 per cent during the same period; the price of vegetable ghee rose by 0.36 per cent to Rs72.78 per kg against Rs72.52 while price of lawn it stood at Rs78.38 per metre as against Rs77.65, an increase of 0.94 per cent.

The price of wheat flour was up by 0.86 per cent to Rs14.05 per kg during the week under review as against Rs13.93; wheat rose by 0.24 per cent to Rs12.48 per kg from Rs12.45; voil printed rose 0.77 per cent to Rs37.78 per metre as against Rs37.49, coarse latha rose to Rs35.07 per metre as against Rs34.89, showing an increase of 0.52 per cent.

The price of mutton was up by 0.52 per cent to Rs226.68 per kg as against Rs225.50, red chillies 0.32 per cent to Rs101.90 per kg as against Rs101.58.
