Shujaat calls it a matter between army and judiciary

By Our Correspondent

NEW YORK, March 11: Pakistan Muslim League leader Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain has refused to comment on the presidential reference against Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry, saying that it is an internal matter between the army and the judiciary.

Chaudhry Shujaat who arrived here for a medical check-up said: “I don’t have any right to express my views on the matter.”

“I believe whatever steps we take should be in line with the law and the Constitution.” Replying to a question about the upcoming elections, the PML chief said the polls would be held on schedule, however, these could be postponed in case Iran was attacked.

He said President Pervez Musharraf’s re-election would take place from the existing assemblies.

He ruled out any possibility of meeting PPP chairperson Benazir Bhutto, who flew into New York a few hours before his arrival.

Ms Bhutto is scheduled to address a PPP-organised Pakistan Day function in Brooklyn, a borough of New York City, on March 18.
