Canada’s Usborne wins 7th stage: Tour-de-Pakistan

By Our Sports Correspondent

LAHORE, March 11: Matthew Usborne of Canada won the 7th stage of the 13th Tour-de-Pakistan cycle race, covering a distance of 154kilometre from Multan to Sahiwal in four hours, 10 minutes and 28 seconds on Sunday.

Usborne, who could not win a stage earlier, despite good performance, proved his worth this time among 43 international and national cyclists.

New Zealand’s Robin Read secured second spot with a difference of eight seconds. He has so far remained consistent throughout the event.

Wapda's Abdul Ahad finished third by crossing the finish line after 10 minutes of the first two.

The fourth and sixth positions went to Sri Lanka’s Asanka Sanjeewa and Sudeera Nilanga respectively.

Justin Kerr of New Zealand claimed fifth position.

Due to rain, the cyclists took a slow start in a tight pack without taking any risk on the wet and slippery surface.

The next stage of the race for Lahore will start on Monday. The cyclists will cover a distance of 160km to reach the Punjab metropolis.
