Twenty-five fans receive visas

Published March 10, 2007

LAHORE, March 9: Twenty-five Pakistani cricket fans have so far received visas for the West Indies to watch 2007 World Cup matches there.

The visas were issued at the Imran Khan Enclosures of the Gaddafi Stadium.

As the West Indies has no High Commission in Pakistan, therefore, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had made arrangements for the Pakistanis to obtain CARICOM visas from the Gaddafi Stadium and National Stadium, Karachi. Trinidad and Tobago High Commission in India had sent their representative Boodrum Supersad to Lahore to facilitate the visa to Pakistanis.

Though there is no exact figure available as to how many many spectators applied for the visa, 25 applicants have received their visa while the High Commission’s office is likely to issue more before the start of the World Cup on Tuesday with the opening match between Pakistan and the home team.
