TOBA TEK SINGH, March 3: The treasury members held a meeting at the residence of union council nazim Rana Zafar Ahmad on Friday night and decided that they would not vote the nominee of former district nazim Chaudhry Ashfaq for the office of district naib nazim.

District naib nazim’s office had fallen vacant as a result of resignation of Chaudhry Sultan Ahmad on the direction of Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi.

A source claimed that 75 members attended the meeting. District nazim Chaudhry Abdul Sattar was not invited.

He said the participants formed a seven-member committee comprising Saeed Ahmad Dayya, Arshad Noori, Mulazim Husain Gadhi, Mian Tanvir Ahmad, Muhammad Sarwar, Rai Nadeemullah and Ayub Anjum.

The committee would meet the chief minister and inform him of the point of view of 75 members about the nominee and the alleged anti-party activities of Mr Ashfaq.

It may be recalled that the decision about resignation of Chaudhry Sultan was taken in a meeting held at the CM’s House in Lahore in the presence of sitting nazim Abdul Sattar and former nazim Chaudhry Ashfaq groups. It was also decided that Mr Ashfaq would nominate the next candidate.

NOMINATION: Meanwhile, Mr Ashfaq nominated on Saturday Pirmahal union council nazim Chaudhry Khalid Sardar as candidate for district naib nazim slot.
